Speto is one of the earliest pioneers in São Paulo graffiti scene. Born in 1971 in São Paulo suburb Santana, he was exposed to graffiti at early age and started painting in public space in the mid eighties. With time, he developed his own, unique style, characterized by traditional folkloric Brazilian art, such as woodcuttings inspired on string literature. Speto’s work can be recognized as simple figures in black and white added with a few basic colours. During his long career as an artist, Speto has participated in many exhibitions and art fairs such as Art Ba in Buenos Aires, Art Basel, Miami, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, The Wynwood Walls in Miami and Frankfurt. Speto participated in R.U.A. 2009 in Rotterdam. His work is cited in many publications worldwide.
