Gais Ama

Gais AMA started his artistic career tagging the streets of Rio de Janeiro in 1995. As one of the first graffiti writers in the Rio de Janeiro scene, he paved way for many after him to come, through workshops in social projects around town as well as stimulating talents around him, to feel free and creative in the streets.  Gais soon started integrating graffiti art and abstract modernist influences in his work in urban space, which defined the success in his career as an artist participating in contemporary art scene of Brazil. Recent activity of Gais is concentrated on canvas for exhibition purpose. Today, Gais’ art can be recognized as a combination of geometric and organic colour shapes and planes of lines, not only influencing the urban landscape, but also occupying significant space in galleries and museums.

Gais participated in several national and international group exhibitions, auctions with houses such as Phillips de Pury and “StreetArt Brazil” at the Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt, Germany.
