Fefe Talavera
For Fefe Talavera (1979) strong and subconscious human emotions like anger, fear, dreams and desire are the main inspiration for her work. Born from Mexican and Brazilian parents in São Paulo, her cultural roots and the typical stylistic freedom of the street art and graffiti scene of her hometown, inspired her in her work. She developed a powerful and energetic style coming to expression through her well-known monsters that symbolize the connection with the dark side of her inner self. Although Fefe studied arts at FAAP in São Paulo, she developed her style while working in the streets creating a raw energy coming to life as monsters. The starting point of her work is São Paulo as a contemporary megalopolis suffering of social, economical and ecological problems and their negative impact on the urban landscape. For Fefe public space is an invitation to show the beauty of the inside of the strong personalities living there.
Fefe’s work is to be found in the streets all over the world. She also exhibited in galleries in Moscow, New York, Seville, Berlin, Los Angeles, Vienna, Madrid, Washington, Lisbon and Amsterdam to mention but a few.
