Crowded R.U.A. -Tours at 24h Zuidoost

17 September 2018 - We already new that 24h Zuidoost in combination with the jubileum of 50 years Bijlmer would be boosting big time, but when our partner AlltourNative started the tour last saturday for many more than the average group of 20 participants, we got slightly nervous. How on earth can one guide a mass of over hundred people along the murals making sure everybody actually can hear what you have to say?

The tours where not the only 'R.U.A.-thing' happening during 24h Zuidoost. At Metro Movies film fest in the soon to be opened Gaasperdammertunnel,  Jesper Buursink and Sangiorgio Dallajee proudly presented their short video 'What Can Be This' about Ammar Abo Bakr painting Hakfort. The video is a curious document showcasing the opinion of random people living in and around Hakfort. Artist Ammar Abo Bakr created something one has to look at for many times, to read the symbols and signs or to be able to identify with an image, and one will always see something new...

Video about Hakfort mural premieres at Metro Movies 2018

17 september 2018 - In April / May of this year, Ammar Abo Bakr has been putting a lot of effort and dedication on painting the Hakfort mural in the Hbuurt. The painting is is a frame from his work as a production designer on an ongoing film production under the title ‘Perfumed with mint' directed by Muhammed Hamdy.

When we invited Ammar to paint the mural and briefed him about the background of the Bijlmer and inparticular the (hi)story of the building, he saw a strong match. The overal theme is about the search for a common identity in times of uncertain developments.
